Description
It's been a while since I submitted anything. I went through a rought period, spent a month messing with traditional mediums and in the end decided I needed to get my ass back in digital gear. So I gave myself a one-week assignment - create five mock bookmarks, following themes of flowers, pretty girls, bellydancing and steampunk. It worked, I have to say, and I learned a lot. This is the first one, and also my favourite, Rosehip. Colouring is a bit sloppy, and I was experimenting a lot, trying to do and discover new things. It was fun

Greta idea, i think that the skintones need a bit more work.

I think her position is a bit akward. Her hips is turning in one direction while her legs is going in another direction. But it's good that you learned a lot while making this!

Daykan - You are absolutely right! This is the first image I painted after a month of not painting at all, and I had the hardest time getting back on the track! I think it shows. I may re-work her later on
SandraS - Oh, could be, could be. This was HEAVILY inspired by Abney Park's performance of Herr Drosselmeyer's Doll (you can find it on YouTube) so I tried to make her look a bit puppet-like, with her legs hanging like that. But now I see your point, I'll try to fix it if I go back to it

Her left arm (right to us) is much too short. In general, you could say that when the human arm hangs down, the elbow should be almost at the level of the navle. Try picturing her arm hanging down, and you'll see that it reaches only to the nipples. That's one headlegth too short.
Her hair could need some thinner brushstrokes among the thick ones, and some darker shadows to add more depth and focus.
And the crossed threads in the cloth over her stomach are painted very carelessly. I think you already know that.
With that said, the details on her dress and the ornaments around the neck are wonderfully painted, and add a lot of interest to the picture. I just love the magic-like details in the dress around her waist! Well done!

I agree with everything you said
Again, thank you very, very much, I will take all of your thoughts in consideration when I go back to this painting
